The Economist, no less, has said that thenews.pl is the best site for news about Poland in the English language.
In a round up of English news sites in Central and Eastern Europe, The Economist, after giving pretty much everyone on the market a mention, writes: “Perhaps the best is thenews.pl, an offshoot of Polskie Radio, a solid provider of national and international news.”
The team regularly providing, solid, content for thenews.pl are: Agnieszka Skieterska (managing editor), Peter Gentle (editor), John Beauchamp (assistant editor), Monika Greszta (staff writer) and Michal Kubicki (culture writer), along with the whole staff of the English Section at the External Service of Polish Radio in Warsaw.
The Economist review is actually a very useful round up of English language sites throughout the region.
Meanwhile, an exhibition on Polskie Radio’s 85 year history of broadcasting has began at the Royal Castle in Warsaw.
The 1925-2010 Polish Radio exhibition presents a history of Poland’s public broadcaster including developments in technology and some of the personalities and programmes that became part of the daily lives of listeners throughout the eight and a half decades.
The exhibition, which runs till October 17, contains 390 photographs, dozens of posters and multimedia presentations based on the Polish Radio archives. (pg)
