Trade unions to protest wage freeze

22.09.2010
Trade unionists are descending on Warsaw today to protest government plans to freeze wages in the public sector.

Members from the Solidarity trade union and those from OPZZ will set off at 12.00 CET from plac Pilsudskiego in the centre of town and march to the Finance Ministry, the Parliament building and then on to the Prime Minister’s Office.

Oraganisers say they are expecting 3,000 demonstrators to take part in the protest against cuts in public spending, which the government says are necessary to reduce the budget deficit and which are contained in the 2011 budget draft.  (pg)
