If elections were held this week in Poland then Civic Platform would have 244 seats in the lower house of parliament (Sejm) Law and Justice 165 and the Democratic Left Alliance 49 - meaning Donald Tusk’s party would have an absolute majority, finds a new poll.Fifty percent of those polled by Gfk Polonia said they would vote Civic Platform, down two percent since the last poll taken by the company on August 24.
The largest opposition party currently in parliament, Law and Justice are on 34 percent, down one percent and the Democratic Left Alliance is on ten percent, up two points.
The junior coalition partner, the Polish Peasant’s Party are on four percent, below the threshold for obtaining seats in parliament.
“We have been three years at the helm,” said Civic Platform’s Waldy Dzikowski. “We have had to deal with the global finance crisis, floods and Smolensk [plane crash]. As you can see, we passed the test”.
The survey was commissioned by the
Rzeczpospolita daily between 23 - 27 September from a sample of 1000.
