A construction worker has been injured after a brick wall fell on him at the National Stadium building site in Warsaw.
“The accident happened at 10.14 CET when a mobile platform hit a brick wall, which, in turn, fell on a worker,” said Dorota Tietz from Warsaw Police Headquarters. The worker who sustained injuries is hospitalised but his life is not in danger.
“We made sure that the accident site is safe and will investigate what caused the accident,” said Tietz.
The accident happened one day after UEFA President Michel Platini visited Warsaw and the National Stadium’s construction site. The National Stadium in Warsaw will host the opening match of Euro 2012 championship.
The most tragic accident happened at the National Stadium construction site in December 2009 when a lift with fell down from 18 metres killing two workers. (mg/jb)
