50 percent support for ruling party

29.10.2010

A new poll reveals that the ruling Civic Platform can count on 50 percent of popular support, with opposition Law and Justice behind on 35 percent.

The GfK Polonia survey, commissioned by the Rzeczpospolita daily, shows both parties gaining in support by 3 percent each.

The Democratic Left Alliance has lost out 3 percent in the poll, which finds the party gaining a mere 8 percent of voters’ support. Junior coalition partners the Polish Peasants’ Pary gained only 3 percent in the poll, not enough to gain seats in the parliament.

Ex-Civic Platform MP Janusz Palikot gained just one percent in the poll, alongside Self-Defence, the League of Polish Families or the Womens’ Party.

The poll was conducted among a representative group of 1,000 adult Poles between 21-25 October. (jb)
