If the local elections scheduled for 21 November were held this weekend the ruling Civic Platform (PO) would receive 37 percent of the votes nationwide, while the main opposition party Law and Justice (PiS) would get 23 percent. The poll commissioned by Polish Radio by the Homo Homini Institute shows a decrease in support over the last two weeks for Jaroslaw Kaczynski’s Law and Justice of five percent.
The Democratic Left Alliance (SLD) has almost 16 percent support while the junior ruling coalition partner, the Polish Peasant Party (PSL) 7.5 percent.
The poll was conducted on a representative sample of 1100.
Meanwhile, Bronislaw Komorowski now three months in office as Poland’s head of state, has been positively assessed by 43 percent of Poles. According to a poll conducted by TNS OBOP pollsters, 21 percent are critical of his performance while 36 percent have no opinion on the matter.
Bronislaw Komorowski told journalists that he was happy with the trust declared by the respondents.
“I am proud of the declared confidence, though I think it is a result not only of the three months of my presidency but also of the time when I was acting head of state. I think that the past months have proven that I lay great emphasis on improving the condition of the Polish political scene, removing aggression and divisions,” he said
