Up to seven unexploded shells dating back to WW II have been found by construction workers close to Warsaw’s international airport.

The unexploded ordnance was found around 500 meters from the airport. The nearby Marriott hotel was evacuated Wednesday afternoon while a bomb disposal team examines the shells.

“There are six to seven aerial shells, likely to be incendiary devices, Sgt. Tomasz Kubiak, head of the bomb disposal team told TVP television.

He added that the devices do not pose a high risk of explosion.

The airport is working as normal. (pg)
