The ruling Civic Platform still boasts the support of one in two Poles, according to a new opinion poll. The opposition Law and Justice has 31 percent backing, which is four percent less than in a preceding poll by Gfk Polonia.
The second change evident in the latest poll is the growing support for the junior coalition member, the Polish Peasant Party, which gained six percent, twice as much as was registered two weeks ago.
The Democratic Left Alliance remains on eight percent support.
Should the results be similar in next year’s parliamentary election, Civic Platform, on 49 percent would be able to rule on its own, gaining 241 seats in parliament - ten more than the required number for a one party rule.
