Eight percent rise in ruling party support

13.12.2010

According to a new poll, as many as 53 percent of voters say they would support the ruling centre-right Civic Platform if a general election were held this week.

The poll by Gfk Polonia shows an eight percentage rise in the popularity of the senior coalition partner compared to two weeks ago.

Civic Platform would win 257 seats in the lower house of parliament (Sejm) giving them an outright majority of the poll would be replicated in a geberal election.

Meanwhile, support for the opposition Law and Justice party has dropped from 33 to just 25 percent.

The poll shows that the Democratic Left Alliance (SLD) and the Polish Peasants Party (PSL) would receive 11 and 6 percent of the vote share respectively.

The brand-new Poland Comes First party would receive just 2 percent.

The poll was conducted on 2-6 December among a sample of 975. (mg)
