Poles prefer fake plastic trees

23.12.2010

More than half of Poles prefer to have an artificial Christmas tree at home during the holidays than a real one, according to a poll commissioned by Polish Radio.

The Homo Homini institute finds that as many as 52.4 percent choose an artificial Christmas tree, while just one-in-three – or 37.2 percent - prefer a real one.

“Many people decide to buy artificial trees because then they can save money and time. Besides, they do not have to clean up the fallen needles,” explained Marcin Duma at the Homo Homini institute.

Only 7.6 percent of Poles do not buy a Christmas tree at all and 2.8 percent buy a Christmas wreath instead of a tree.

The poll was conducted among 1,082 people. (mg)
