andrzej wajda; photo - east news Andrzej Wajda, the world renowned Polish film director, is celebrating his 85th birthday, Sunday. Wajda, an Oscar winner and winner of the Golden Palm award in Cannes, has decided to spend the day with his admirers and fans at meetings in Warsaw and his hometown Lodz.
The director, currently working on a biopic of Lech Walesa, is using his birthday as an opportunity to present some of his lesser known, though equally acclaimed works.
A screening of Danton, which won him a Cesar award and Nastasia based on Dostoyevsky’s prose are among a longer list of titles presented at the Kultura cinema in Warsaw.
The event is accompanied by an exhibition of foreign posters to Andrzej Wajda’s films.
