Poles agree with tribunal ruling and think archives must now be opened, says new OBOP poll.The poll commissioned by the Dziennik daily finds that 49 percent of respondents agree with the CT’s ruling, according to which dozens of articles of the lustration act break the constitution; 22 percent are of the opposite opinion; 29 percent have no opinion on the subject.
In the opinion of 69 percent of the survey respondents, the Saturday ruling of the Tribunal does not spell the end of the vetting process in Poland; 11 percent are of the opposite opinion; as many as 20 percent have no opinion on the subject.
In the opinion of 49 percent of respondents, the archives of the Institute of National Remembrance should be opened to everybody, yet without access to information on intimate and personal matters. 24 percent of respondents are for the opening of the archives and 22 percent are against.
The survey was conducted on Saturday, immediately after the Tribunal’s verdict.
