Brussels supports Polish nurses

27.06.2007
Daily "Życie Warszawy" has found out that Polish nurses will receive support from international nursing organisations.

The European Forum of National Nursing and Midwifery Associations, which integrates organisations in all of the EU Member States, is going to canvass support for the protesting nurses from the Council of Europe, European Commission and European Parliament.

Paul de Raeve, Secretary General of the Forum is outraged at the Polish authorities’ approach to the nurses’ strike. He is going to scrutinise to what extent the human rights are respected in Poland.

In order to publicize the issue and obtain support for the nurses on the European forum, the association wants to talk to Terry Davis, Secretary General of the Council of Europe, Vladimir Szpidla, the EU Commissioner for employment, and Polish MEPs.

“I will support the protest, because I’m shocked at the prime monoster’s reaction to the strike”, Bogdan Klich, Civic Platform’s (PO) MEP told "Życie Warszawy". (mj)
