Ryszard Kalisz of the Democratic Left Alliance (SLD) has accused Civic Platform (PO) leader Donald Tusk of failing to consult with the rest of the opposition parties before his meeting with President Lech Kaczyński last Thursday, concerning the possibility of early parliamentary elections.“The Democratic Left Alliance opposes the dictate of Donald Tusk,” Kalisz said. He added that Tusk made arrangements during the talks with the President only on his behalf and on behalf of PO, and not for the rest of the position parties.
He said that Tusk’s mentality was as dictatorial as the ruling Law and Justice party have been in government.
According to Kalisz, if the President should have consulted with all the leaders of the opposition parties, and not only PO.
Kalisz said that his party, SLD, believes that a caretaker government should come into being and that their candidate for prime minister during that time is SLD leader Wojciech Olejniczak. He pointed out, however, that the Alliance is open to other suggestions.
The coalition of ex-communists and other left wing parties – under the banner of ‘Left Democrats’ (LiD) is to meet on August 20 to decide how to proceed in a parliamentary vote over a motion to dissolve parliament.
