Poland’s Prime Minister Jarosław Kaczyński told a press conference Wednesday that the case of Justice Minister Zbigniew Ziobro (photo), who has been accused by the opposition of illegal actions involving secretly taping other politicians, are groundless and that no-one was wire tapped outside the correct procedures, so there is no reason to dismiss the Justice Minister or to suspend him from the post.Opposition parties are demanding that Ziobro resign, as he is head of the legal system he should not be a judge in a case made against him.
According to Jarosław Kaczyński, the opposition knows perfectly well that there is no case against Ziobro, but “decided to undertake a cynical game which is very harmful to Poland”.
The PM said also that his predecessor Kazimierz Marcinkiewicz, who recently revealed that he believes he might have been bugged while being the PM, is just following the rudeness and arrogance of the opposition.
Opposition parties have been putting pressure on the government to investigate the activities of the special services and the Justice Ministry, which they say have been used by the government for political reasons, before the elections.
