A new opinion poll by PGB shows the largest opposition party leads the pack a day before parliament votes on a dissolution motion which would lead to early elections in Poland. The poll released Thursday records that the opposition Civic Platform has a five percent lead – with 36 percent support.
The ruling Law and Justice party are second with 31 percent, and the Left and Democrats are third with 17 percent.
The only other election alliance with enough support to gain seats in parliament is the union of League of Polish Families and the Self defense party, with six percent.
The poll’s findings contradict a survey taken last weekend by GfK Polonia which showed a surprise lead for the government by six percent - the first time they had taken the lead in a survey of voting intentions since last January.
The Sejm – the Polish Lower House - will vote on a dissolution motion, Friday, which will make an autumn election a certainty.
