Leszek Miller – a former Polish prime minister under the ex-communist SLD government - will stand as Self-defense candidate in the coming elections in Poland on October 21.The information was confirmed by party leader Andrzej Lepper during a press conference Thursday morning, which he attended together with the former head of the Democratic Left Alliance (SLD).
As Lepper himself said, all the members of his party have a common goal of caring for Poland and Poles, especially workers. Self-defense leader added that the SLD is no longer a leftist party, and that this role was overtook by Self-defense.
Former PM Leszek Miller explained that he is not joining Self-defense as a permanent member but instead wants to create a new party called the Polish Left (PL).
Referring to the suicide earlier this year of a former minister in his government under investigation by Minster of Justice Zbigniew Ziobro, Miller said:
“I want to be a member of a commission that will probe into the death of my friend Barbara Blida. There I will face Mr. Ziobro”, said Miller during the conference. (

“The Kaczyński brothers are a threat to Poland and the last two years were a waste of time”, he added.
Miller had originally wanted to stand in the elections for SLD but was rejected by his former colleagues.
