Donald Tusk is to take over the post of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Poland today. At 10.15 a.m. in the Presidential Palace he is to be appointed as PM by the President Lech Kaczyński.
Outgoing Prime Minister Jarosław Kaczyński is not going to take part in the ceremony, but is to send “an elegant letter”. Outgoing government’s spokesman Jan Dziedziczak explained that the letter is to contain whishes for “successes that would strengthen Poland and bring satisfaction to the Poles”.
Fifteen minutes after the ceremonial appointing of the new government there will be a meeting with journalists and at 2 p.m. the first session of the new Cabinet is to take place. According to Donal Tusk’s announcements, the ministers are to deal with a draft of the next year’s budget first.
Taking over particular ministries from the predecessors is to start at noon.
The first speech of the new PM in front of the Parliament is to be expected on Friday, November 23. After that a vote of confidence is to take place. (jm)
