The ruling Civic Platform (PO) has record-breaking support with as many as 59 percent of respondents declare willingness to vote for Donald Tusk’s party.
Opposition Law and Justice (PiS) is supported by every fifth Pole, a poll by PBS DGA, in Gazeta Wyborcza.
PO has broken its own record from a month ago, when it was supported by 58 percent of Poles. No other party since 1989 had such good results.
As the newspaper points out, Law and Justice’s result is also unique: the lowest since May 2005, when the party won the general elections.
Above the electoral threshold were also the Left Democrats (LiD) with 10 percent support and junior coalition partner the Polish Peasants Party (PSL) with 7 percent.
Other parties – Self-defence and the League of Polish Families wouldn’t get to the Parliament at all. Since general elections in October neither of them exceeded 2 percent of support.
The poll was conducted on December 15-17 on a representative group of 1107 Poles. (jm)
