“I’d like Julia Pitera to become the new head of CBA (Central Anticorruption Bureau)”, PM Donald Tusk has told Super Express tabloid.
Donald Tusk has previously announced that he wants to summon the current CBA head Mariusz Kamiński, appointed for the position by the former Law and Justice government, to give explanations in January of the bureau’s operations during the previous Law and Justice government, which critics say became a body used to harass political opponents.
“Everything is in the hands of Mr. Kamiński. So far, the results of his actions have been arguable, delicately speaking”, PM has added.
TVN24 news channel points out that Tusk has mentioned the need to talk to the head of CBA many times, but this is the first time he has named Julia Pitera, minister responsible for combating corruption in his cabinet, and former head of the Polish branch of Transparency International, as Kamiński’s possible replacement.
“Since Julia Pitera joined PO, she’s spent most of her efforts on tackling threat areas within and around the Civic Platform. She has always attacked those who could not be fully trusted. Everyone, who knows Julia Pitera, knows that she is allergic to any form of corruption”, PM has told the tabloid. (mj)
