The Prosecutor’s Office in Warsaw has filed a motion for the detention of businessman and former Polish senator Henryk Stokłosa, arrested under the European Arrest Warrant by German police near Hamburg on November 12.
A court decision is expected today.
“Our decision is justified by the concern that the accused could try to go into hiding”, Renata Mazur, spokeswoman of the District Prosecution Office in Warsaw has said, quoted on TVN.24.
Stokłosa was questioned on Thursday and heard 22 charges regarding his illegal activities, mainly in relation to tax evasion thanks to his connections in the ministry of finance in the years 1989-2005. (mj)
