Palikot’s alcohol-problem smear part of political PR?

16.01.2008

President Lech Kaczyński has rejected open-letter apologies from the controversial Civic Platform MP Janusz Palikot for raising a question on the head of state’s alleged alcohol problem and calls him a ‘clown’.

“We suspect that some of Palikot’s mischievous acts have been invented by the PR firm he cooperates with”, an anonymous PO MP reveals to the Dziennik daily and says the maverick MP has become a clown.

The Palikot problem seems to be getting a highly embarrassing issue to the Civic Platform.

"The issue is far from over. It will definitely be resolved”, deputy premier Grzegorz Schetyna (PO), has told Polish Radio 3.

“It seems he hasn’t got enough to do”, deputy head of PO parliamentary club, Grzegorz Dolniak has told Dziennik daily and added that MP Palikot needs more workload to keep him out of more mischief.

Head of PO parliamentary club Zbigniew Chlebowski has told the Polish Press Agency (PAP) that he has had a “very serious talk” with Palikot.

"I showed him a yellow card and it is our mutual understanding that if he repeats his misbehaviour, the next one will be red”, Chlebowska has told PAP.

An anonymous source within PO informs that the party is looking into Janusz Palikot’s political PR strategy and ensures the controversial MP will be dismissed from his party’s parliamentary club if the allegations of his PR tactics are confirmed. (mj)
