Government actions weaken state apparatus in Poland, former PM says

27.05.2008

According to former PM Jaroslaw Kaczynski, governmental plans to transfer authority over health care and public media to local government are likely to cause a decrease of social control and weaken the state apparatus.

Kaczynski also criticised the government’s plans to separate the posts of the Attorney General and the Minister of Justice, as well as to limit the competence of provincial governors. He explained that the planned actions would weaken the position of these bodies and will deprive them of any authority. (jm)
