Roze Gali causes stir in Polish media

27.11.2008

Polish Television board will ask today the head of Channel 2, TVP 2, for the explanation concerning the broadcast of „Roze Gali 2008" (Gala Roses), a popular television event, where homosexuals Tomasz Raczek and Marcin Szczygielski have been voted the most beautiful couple of the year.

PR Manager of G+J Poland Magda Bulera, whose editorial office was held responsible for mounting the event, said the board of Polish Television had been given all the crucial data concerning the gala, thus denying that TVP2 was misinformed about the results of the vote.

She underlined that TVP did not voice any reservations after the ceremony, adding that yet there have been no talks on the next-year "Roze Gali" broadcast.

After the ceremony Tomasz Raczek, a famous Polish journalist and film critic, and Marcin Szczygielski, graphic designer, journalist and writer, said that it was an honour to receive such a prize which proved a change in Poles' way of thinking.

The event was organized for the sixth time on 19 November in the National Theatre in Warsaw. Famous Poles competed in five categories: The most beautiful debut, The beautiful in the Web, The most beautiful couple, The beautiful today and The beautiful always. Among other Polish celebrities rewarded with the statues there were actresses Marta Zmuda- Trzebiatowska, Krystyna Janda and Małgorzata Kozuchowska and a sportsman Artur Boruc. (is)
