Improved Parliament legislation spells more business

11.03.2009
Lack of policy predictability and sudden legislative changes the main causes for tentative approach of business and investment in Poland.

Sudden changes in regulations and unpredictable policy are the main obstacles on the road of effective economic development in Poland. According to a report 'Efficient State' prepared by the Ernst&Young company, Polish Lower House lacks in cohesiveness and restrictive legislative rules.

The report points  that one of the key reasons for the policy unpredictability is the fact that the Polish Parliament is functioning in an institutional imbalance, which is a result of weak parties and liberal legislative rules that govern the law making process in Parliament. Solutions should be sought to ensure that politicians support business development and not hamper it. Investors should know what to expect. When confronted with uncertainty they are bound to chose a country which is predictable in its business offer.
