For the fifth year now, Poland will mark the National Day of Life on the 24th of March. In the run-up to the social campaign, over which Polish Radio holds media patronage, experts talk about the contribution of healthy families to the well-being of individuals and societies.
National Day of Life, instituted by the Parliament back in 2004, is all about promoting family values, including right to life issues, in a positive way. On a daily basis, we are fed with a distorted image of the family in news media, explain event organizers.
According to eclectic social research presented by National Day of Life experts, over 90% of people in Poland see happy family life as an integral part of their personal satisfaction.
In practice, the trends in mass culture, but also the reality of the job market are obstacles to realizing these ideals. Also, for many young Polish men and women, fear of responsibility and failure, respectively, effectively sabotages their plans of setting up a family, research shows.
