Polish interests at EU Brussels summit

For obvious reasons, Poland would be interested in affiars immediately concerning countries of the post-communist region and this means discussion on making use of the 25 billion euro contingency fund, though here Warsaw has not voiced intention of availing itself to the assistance project.

Another aspect of the summit debates to be in the focus of Polish interest would be the new program of deeper ties between the EU and former Soviet states. This comes in connection with the Eastern Neighborhood Policy, a partnership program initiated by Poland.

Poland has always been a strong proponent of energy security and an advocate of diversification of energy sources, so it shall undoubtedly promote the idea of the Nabucco pipeline linking Caspian deposits through central Asia with Austria.
