Appearances by Lech Walesa at gatherings of the Libertas party continue to evoke concern of all political quarters in Poland.

Appearances by Poland's former president and Solidarity leader Lech Walesa at gatherings of the Libertas party of Euro-sceptics continue to evoke concern of pratically all political quarters in the country. The discomfort is compounded by the timing of Walesa's ventures - the current election campaign to the European Parliament - as well as by the fact that he is receiving substantial remuneration for his efforts. Libertas clearly intends to capitalize on Lech Walesa's image as a person of historical merit.
Commentators have been harsh on the decisions of Walesa which made him easy prey for a Libertas image boosting election scheme. They remind Lech Walesa has always been guided by a quest for change which, after Poland extricated itself from the grips of communism, did not necessarily serve stabilization of a young democracy. This instability is best reflected in one of Walesa's famous quotes: "I'm all for and against."
