OFF Festival

The fourth edition of OFF Festival of alternative music is underway in Myslowice, southern Poland. Over 60 bands are to play at the five festival venues, including Spiritualized from Great Britain and The National from the United States.

Established in 2006 by Artur Rojek, the vocalist from the rock band Myslovitz from Mysłowice, OFF Festival has become one of the biggest alternative music festivals taking place in this country. The special guest of this year's edition is Jonathan Poneman, the president of the legendary Sub Pop record label in Seattle which has released albums by, among others, Nirvana and  Soundgarden. Indie rock band The National, Brooklyn-based experimentalists High Places, English rockers Spiritualized and the up-and-coming The Pains of Being Pure at Heart will performs as well.

The Festival's program can be found at www.2009.off-festival.pl.  It lasts until August 9 and takes place in Słupna Park in Mysłowice which is 10 km from Katowice, 70 km from Cracow and 80 km from Cieszyn.
