52.2 bln zloty deficit

08.09.2009

The FM has proposed a dramatic increase in Poland's planned budget deficit for next year.

Report by Slawek Szefs

To cut a long story short, this means a two-and-a-half-fold increase compared to the 2009 budget. No wonder FM Jacek Rostowski told a press conference this will not be the budget of his dreams. But such is the delayed effect of the global crisis on Polish realities, he stressed. However, he assured the planned deficit level is acceptable from the point of view of state budget security envisaged in the 55 percent threshold of public debt to the GDP.
