Following the dismissal of the national coach Leo Beenhakker questions have arisen not only about his possible successor but also the future of the Polish squad.

Peter Gentle reports

Speculations about the end of Leo Beenhakker as Poland's national coach have been circulating for quite some time now, resurfacing most prominently after each defeat of his team and when he accepted the unpaid post of the technical advisor to his club Feyenoord earlier this year. Poland's shameful 3-nil performance against Slovenia in the World Cup qualifier which put a definite end to the hopes for their participation in the World Cup in South Africa practically sealed his fate for cutting the contract with the country's National Football Association.  Several possible successors have alreay been mentioned, among them well established coaches Henryk Kasperczak and Franciszek Smuda, retired football player Ryszard Tarasiewicz or U23 team coach Stefan Majewski.
