Heading home, but for what?

21.09.2009

A Migration Policy Institute report shows some 1.4 million workers from East European member countries in the UK. Some are returning home.

Report by Slawek Szefs

The study, commissioned by the BBC, includes British data up to 2008 which speak of 358 thousand Polish workers present in the UK, an over two fold increase in a two year period.

The document also suggests that about half of those who flooded the British labor market shortly after Poland gained EU member status have returned home, mostly due to recession in Britain. But what's in store for them?
