Foreign minister Radoslaw Sikorski is wrapping up his three-day working visit to the US with today's agenda including meetings with the national security adviser James Jones and Defense Secretary Robert Gates.
Danuta Isler reports
Today minister Sikorski was also to meet with the US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. That meeting, however, was cancelled due to the Secretary's extended Middle East trip which left some analysts here wondering whether it should not be taken as a negative signal in bilateral relations.
During their meeting in the Department of State Hillary Clinton and Radoslaw Sikorski were to announce the resumption of the so-called strategic dialogue between Poland and the United States. They were also to discuss Poland’s part of the international force in Afghanistan and the future of the new missile defense project proposed by Barack Obama in September. But the American Secretary of State prolonged her trip to the Middle East when she rushed to Cairo, fearing that Egypt and the Arab world’s support for finding a way to kick start the Israel-Palestine peace process appears to be fading.
