Roman Polanski Honoured At Karlove Vary Film Festival

Roman Polanski received a Crystal Globe at the 39th International Film Festival in Karlove Vary, a summer resort in the Czech Republic. The renowned director was honored during the gala closing the festival for his contribution to the world cinematography – starting from his early works like “A knife in the water” to Oscar winning ”The Pianist”. Czech movie goers are among the most enthusiastic fans of the director. 15 films competed for the main prize at the International Film Festival in Karlove Vary – one of the oldest film festivals in Europe. Roman Polanski will staying longer in the Czech Republic’s capital Prague - as he will filming his adaptation of Charles Dickens’s “Oliver Twist” there for the next few months. His latest production, based on the screenplay by Ronald Harwood, will cost over 45 million euros.
