Two medals for Poland at the Vancouver Games

With the 21st Winter Games in Vancouver halfway over Poland has two medals under its belt which places this country on the 16th position in the ranking.

The first medal of the event for Poland was won by Adam Malysz who came second in the normal hill ski jump competition jumping 103.5m and 105m in the two rounds. Other Poles in the opening competition did their best, but came nowhere near the top ten. Kamil Stoch came 27th overall, with Stefan Hula and Krzysztof Mietus coming in 31st and 36th respectively.
 
A few days later the Polish cross country ski champion Justyna Kowalczyk took second place in the Individual Sprint Classics. As for the other medal hopes, Paulina Ligocka in women's snowboarding halfpipe finished competing in 28th position while biathlon Tomasz Sikora had a particularly unlucky first event.
 
Seven days into competing the United States team is leading the ranking with 18 medals under its belt, including six gold, followed by Germany with 11 and Norway with 8. Poland with two silver medals of Adam Malysz and Justyna Kowalczyk is placed sixteenth.
