A group of Polish soldiers is departing for Moscow today to prepare for the military parade on May 9 marking the 65th anniversary of victory over Nazi Germany.

As has been customary, Russian military parades marking victory in WWII are always accompanied by a large military orchestra and consist of  a personnel march followed by sophisticated hardware, and a fly over by combat aircraft.  This year's 65th parade will feature contingents of the countries that participated in the allies’ coalition including American, French and British troops as well as 75 Polish soldiers from the Warsaw Garrison.

Twenty five heads of state have already confirmed their participation in the May 9 celebrations, including leaders from Armenia, France, Kazakhstan, Latvia, Germany, Italy, Moldova, Serbia, Greece, Israel  and Vietnam. Poland will be represented there by Parliamentary Speaker and acting president Bronislaw Komorowski. Among the absent ones will be US president Barack Obama and British PM Gordon Brown.
