In the Tuesday edition of our weekday news magazine News from Poland:

Slow Cities – Poland joins the ‘slow movement’ which began in Italy, promoting smaller towns and characterised by a way of life that supports people to live slow.

Agnieszka Bielawska looks at the promotion of traditional ways of doing things are valued. These cities stand up against the fast-lane, homogenised world so often seen in other cities throughout the world. Slow cities have less traffic, less noise, fewer crowds. But is this movement just an excuse for keeping less developed urban as backward as they are today?

Coach Surfing – More and more Poles are taking up services offered by Sites such as coachsurfing.com and hospitalityclub.org, which outs people in touch so they can use each other’s coach to sleep on when visiting other countries. As Michal Kubicki reports, the web sites have blossomed as the price of accommodation has ballooned in Europe and further afield.
