The world’s largest classical music festival is under way in Warsaw, with 120 concerts and 450 performers, including such household names as Barbara Hendricks and Marc Minkowski.

The event’s motto is ‘Chopin Open’ to mark the 200th anniversary of the composer’s birth and the programme includes the presentation of Chopin’s entire output - for solo piano, for piano and orchestra and for chamber forces.

A wide selection of works by Chopin’s contemporaries (Mendelssohn, Liszt, Schumann), the composers who inspired Chopin (Bach, Mozart, Handel) as well as by those who were inspired by the Polish composer (Debussy, Skryabin, Ravel) is also featured.
