The economically liberal Civic Platform, which is usually against such measures as raising taxes, faces a problem after government minister Michal Boni hinted at tax hikes earlier this week.

The minister’s comments have caused a storm among Civic Platform politicians, including the former head of the party’s parliamentary club and Parliamentary Speaker Grzegorz Schetyna, who acknowledged that tax hikes would only be used as a last resort.
