Three men who tortured an animal to death in southern Poland, get one of the highest penalties for animal cruelty imposed in the country in years.
Alicja Baczyńska reports
The District Court in Nowy Targ passed an unconditional ten-month imprisonment sentence for a brutal killing of a dog in November, a relatively heavy sentence imposed on animal offenders in Poland.
Under Polish law, the heaviest penalty for extreme acts of such cruelty entails a punishment of up to two years in prison. Yet usually the perpetrator may expect not more than a fine and a suspended sentence.
