
The Polish head of state who has several times expressed readiness to stand before the commission , said he is willing to testify as soon as possible. The enquiry committee set up in mid 2004 is investigating the arrest and sacking of the former chief executive officer at PKN Orlen , the names of the Polish president , former prime minister Leszek Miller and Poland’s richest man Jan Kulczyk have all been raised in connection with the PKN Orlen case. According to two documents made public by the Secret Service Kulczyk has met with Vladimir Alganov, a presumed KGB agent in the 1980’s, now working in the Russian energy sector, to secure the privatisation of a major Polish oil refinery for the Russian oil giant Lukoil.
