Polish midfielder Jakub Blaszczykowski won’t play at the football European Championships in Austria and Switzerland after failing to recover from an old injury, renewed at the national team training camp in southern Austria.
Blaszczykowski is suffering from a pulled leg muscle. During morning training the old injury renewed and disabled him from playing in the Championships.
The Polish national team is to ask UEFA to summon a special medical commission to examine the injured footballer and allow them to call up another player. It is highly likely that Blaszczykowski will be replaced by Lukasz Piszczek of Hertha Berlin.
Poland is to play its first EURO 2008 match against Germany this weekend. (jm)
