13.11.2008

The European Radio Network, Euranet, organised a conference in Brussels on Wednesday, focusing on the way the EU impacts the lives of Europeans.

Report by Agnieszka Bielawska.

The debate raised a range of issues, from immigration and climate change, to intercultural dialogue and public liberties. The aim was to create a platform for debate between the EU and its citizens.

The President of the European Parliament, Hans-Gert Pottering was joined by other EU officials to discuss European issues with students from member states and talk to journalists.

The participating journalists, from various countries ,agreed that the conference raised the awareness of what Euranet was. It showed the range of the European broadcasters working together in this project.

Euranet’s joint broadcasts went on air at the beginning of April 2008. Five programmes of Polish public Radio participate in Euranet together with Polish Radio Szczecin. More information on Euranet can be found here.
