Tusk in London

25.11.2008

A year after the parliamentary elections in Poland PM Donald Tusk visited London where he held talks with his British opposite number, Gordon Brown on energy and climate package. He also met with representatives of the Polish community there and presented them with a special program of assistance aimed at facilitating a smooth return of those who decide to come back to Poland.

Report by Danuta Isler.

Called "Have you got a plan to return?" it includes an Internet portal Powroty.gov.pl which will contain useful tips from such fields as health care, real estate, tax regulation and the current situation in Polish economy. According to various estimates, about two million Poles migrated when Poland joined the European Union in 2004. Experts say a wave of returns should not be expected as a result of such programs while Polish expats in the UK who contributed to Donald Tusk’s electoral success this time say they are fed up with promises and demand facts.
