Plan B for Poland's economy, just in case...

01.12.2008

The government has announced a stabilization and development plan for guarding Poland's economy in a global crisis situation.

PM Donald Tusk said the plan will serve as the basis for introducing amendments to the budget for 2009 as well as blueprints of economic and finance related legislation and administrative rules and regulations. The total scope of the project has been calculated at 91.3 billion zloties, roughly 26 billion euros.

Among the altered elements in the parliamentary approved 2009 national budget, the government head spoke of an adjusted GDP growth rate  from an earlier 4.8 prediction to 3.7 percent.

Premier Tusk underscored the crucial importance of the next two years in stabilizing the crisis situation both in Poland and throughout the world.

One of the key challenges of the government proposed plan will be maintaining the projected level of the budget deficit. Another priority is to be the introdction of tighter energy market regulators to shield Polish society against uncontrolled price hikes.
