Tax payers' money for IVF?

Poland does not have any restrictions protecting human embryos. For each of the thousands IVF babies born in Poland, dozens of embryos die or are kept frozen.

In IVF babies are made to order, IVF bypasses treatment procedures and adds to health problems, says Maria Srodon of Mater Care International. Ovarian hyperstimulation can be fatal, IVF dehumanizes the sperm donor, required to achieve arousal in a clinic closet over pornography. Health problems and congenital abnormalities are frequent in IVF children, which is why they are often aborted before birth, Srodon adds.

The government has proposed a "compromise" law, which would regulate in vitro fertilization, "respecting the rights of embryos" at the same time, maximizing the protection of safety and dignity of human embryos, and refunding the procedure at the same time, says Jaroslaw Gowin of the PM's chancellery. The PM wants IVF legal and refunded.

Anna Borkowska, of a pregnancy information center says she would prefer the state to support uncontroversial and natural methods of treating infertility, while IVF is not healthy and involves killing of embryos. Why is the government favoring the IVF business? she asks.

Jaroslaw Kniolek, March for Life organizer adds Poland's 95% Catholics must not be forced to pay for "waste bins and fridges full of humans". You will not be able to secure the safety of embryos once you legalize IVF, he says.

Poland's Catholic Church opposes IVF and has called it a "sophisticated method of abortion".

The IVF bill is expected to reach parliament sometime in December.
