Pawel Althamer – a contemporary Polish sculptor, performance artist and creator of installations and video art was awarded the International Art Prize of Aachen.
The ten thousand euro prize is granted every two years by the German city to artists and personalities for their contribution to international art.
Pawel Althamer is well known in Germany and his works have already been exhibited during the Berlin Biennale of Modern Art.
In 2004, the Poles was also the winner of the third edition of ‘The Vincent Award’ – a biannual prize awarded to a European artist between 35 and 45 years of age, whose work has a demonstrable influence on current developments in contemporary art. (di/mmj)
