A selection of autograph manuscripts by Pope John Paul II have been put on display at the Institute for Intercultural Dialogue in Krakow.

They include several pages from the diary of Karol Wojtyła from the time of the conclave which elected him as the Bishop of Rome in October 1978, with his first signature as Pope. Visitors can also see the manuscripts of two of Karol Wojtyła’s literary works: the epic poem ‘The Mother’ and the first version of the drama  ‘The Brother of Our God’.

The Institute for Intercultural Dialogue is planning an exhibition of a broad selection of Wojtyła’s literary manuscripts in September.

The current exhibition, which is on until 8 April, also comprises photos, documents, films and memorabilia spanning several decades of the life of the Polish Pope, during his time as Bishop of Kraków and the twenty seven year-long pontificate. (mk)
