• Wajda honoured in Spain

The prominent Polish film director Andrzej Wajda has received the Golden Wave Award from the Catalonian CinemaNet Association for his entire output.

 

The Association promotes humanistic, civic, family and educational values. Its director, Daniel Arasa, has said that Wajda has for decades been among the world’s most outstanding directors, many of whose films focus on the dramatic aspects of Polish history. He recalled that Wajda’s latest film, Katyń, has been released in Spain.

 

The output of eighty four year-old Wajda includes such masterpieces as Ashes and Diamonds, Man of Marble, Man of Iron, The Maids of Wilko, Everything for Sale and Danton. In 2000 he received an Oscar for Life Achievement. (mk)
