More than 137 publishers have come to Warsaw for the 16th book fair of Catholic publishers, organized in the Kubicki Arcades at the Royal Castle.
Traditionally, the book fair took place in the first week after Easter at a Warsaw school. This year the fair changed its date because of the national mourning in April.
Also the venue changed. Catholic publications are now being presented on an area of some 600 square metres. Some accompanying events have been planned for churches in the vicinity of the Royal Castle including St.John’s Archcathedral and St.Anne’s.
Guest of honour at the Fair is Italy, represented by the “Elledici” publishing house from Turin.
Among the events at the fair is a discussion devoted to homosexuals in the church, meetings with photographer Adam Bujak and poet Ernest Bryll, as well as screenings of films devoted to Pope John Paul II and Chopin, among others.
A special tram to the fair is running in Warsaw. The event continues until Sunday. (ek)
